(CARDINGTON: BRIDLEWAY NO 2 AND COPLE BRIDLEWAY NO 14)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
Notice is hereby given that an Order made by Bedford Borough Council on 2nd August 2024, extended on 31st January 2025 the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on horseback or lead a horse along Cardington Bridleway No 2 and Cople Bridleway No 14, which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference OS GR TL 1057 4711 (Map point A) to OS GR TL 1120 4535 (Map point B) has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 8th February 2026.
This closure is required due to holes in the surface of the bridleway caused by animals. The closure will continue from Saturday 9th August 2025 for a period of six months.
There is no alternative route for users while the closure is in place.
The Order will come into operation on 9th August 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the bridleways have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
